It's My Party and I Will Sign on the Dotted Line

On Wednesday, May 20th at Liberty High school one of the best female vaulters to call Bakersfield her home, will sign a letter of intent with Long Beach State. I believe she is the first female vaulter from Bakersfield to receive a full-ride deal. Signing photos HERE.

Amanda Klinchuch's season best is twelve foot and she makes 11'6 in her sleep almost. She is the second ranked vaulter in the valley and was in the state top ten earlier in the season.
Buchanan (has two $30,000 pits!) has world class facilities and the Clovis schools have some good vaulters. So the competition will be good, plus the pits are right in front of the grandstand and the fans know their vaulting

  1. A decision to follow in her brother's footsteps three years ago has vaulted -- quite literally -- Amanda Klinchuch into a college scholarship.

The Liberty senior started pole vaulting as a freshman because her older brother did the same for the Patriots, and she took to it. Now she's signed this week with Long Beach State.

"It is really cool," Klinchuch said. "I never expected that I'd get anything out of it."

Klinchuch cleared 12 feet at a meet in Tulare earlier this year, meeting the criterion Long Beach State set for her for a full tuition-and-books scholarship.
